Founding
Catopolis was founded by its current prime minister on 14 July 2022. Since its founding, Catopolis has strived for legitimacy and formality. In 2025, its first constitution was created.
The United Districts of Aquria (often simply Aquria) was founded by the Aqurian leader on 26 June 2024 as the Federative Republic of Aquria. In late 2024 (the exact date is unknown), Equaria held a referendum which reformed the constitution, renamed the country to Aquria, among other things.
Relations Between Aquria and Catopolis
On 27 July 2024, the Federative Republic of Equaria requested to ally with Catopolis. Equaria was Catopolis' second ally, following the Republic of Sillyland. Equaria also allied with Sillyland, forming the Pact of Steel, later the Pact of Corbus.
Catopolis and Equaria developed a close relationship. After the referendum in late 2024, Equaria was renamed Aquria. Aquria proposed the formation of a union — the United Republics of Aquria-Catopolis (URAC). On 6 December 2024, it was made official. Later, Aquria suffered from instability caused by the loss of citizens. This resulted in the failure of the system of democracy and Aquria became a province of Catopolis, thereby forming Aquria-Catopolis. The country is often still refered to as the URAC.
War
Nameless "War" Against Catopolis
In early 2024 (the exact date is not known), another "country" (whose name has since fallen into the realm of obscurity) declared war on Catopolis on no basis whatsoever. Of course, this "nation" was a strictly online one and had no means of invasion or warfare other than art and false claims.
Fast forward to late 2024, the Catopalian prime minister recalled these happenings and decided to investigate. Upon discovering that that "nation's" Scratch account had been deleted, he jokingly made the following news report on Catopolis' official website:
"19 October, 2024.
Today marks a brilliant day of triumph for the people of Catopolis. With no foreign aid, the Catopolis Defence Corps (CDC) has valiantly defended the country and defeated the enemy, who has fallen from the might of the CDC. Those who did not die at the hands of the CDC were graciously accepted into society by the forever glorious CDC. It is a glorious day for the people of Catopolis, the CDC, the Government and the workers who supported the war effort."
Other than this nameless incident, Catopolis has not experienced any conflict/warfare of any kind.
The Aphid Period
On 1 August 2024, the Aphid Period started, marking the beginning of the period when Equaria was infested by Aphids. Chemical weapons were deployed against the Aphids, with some deaths.
Operation ‘Thunder Bird’ begins. Usage of highly corrosive chemicals wipes out 99% of the Aphid population: the remaining die due to extensive contact with the chemical aftermath.
The Faded War
On 2 February 2025, for reasons unknown (perhaps an attempt to

Aquria-Catopolis has not engaged in any conflicts.
National Anthems & Flags
Both Aquria and Catopolis retain their own national anthems within the URAC, which also has its own anthem.
The first national anthem of Aquria was 'Glory to the Banner of the Three Stars,' a reference to the three stars on the Equarian flag at the time. On 5 October 2024, it was changed to 'Viva, Equaria!'. After the referendum in late 2024, it was changed to 'Aurtia Marla.' All of these songs were written by the Aqurian prime minister. Finally, the national anthem was selected to be 'Solidarity Forever,' written by Ralph Chaplin.
The national anthem of Catopolis is 'The Internationale.' It was written by Eugène Pottier. Prior to 'The Internationale,' it was 'Do You Hear the People Sing?'.
The national anthem of the URAC is 'Weur ure de Arma.' The name is Aqurian for 'we are the armed.' It was written by the Aqurian prime minister.
Aquria has changed its flag four times. The original flag was changed to the second one following the referendum in late 2024. In early 2025, Aquria's flag was changed again, and later in April 2025, it was changed twice—to two similar designs. On 2 August 2025, it was changed to the current flag.
Catopolis has changed its flag a number of times The original design has a cat's face in the middle of a blue background, with green rectangles on either side, with three yellow stars within each green rectangle. It was much like Canada's flag, except with stars, a cat and a different colour scheme. Catopolis' second flag changed the cat. The third flag changed the cat, the green used and the shape of the stars. The fourth changed the colours on the cat and the green used again. The fifth resulted in Catopolis' current flag.
The URAC's flag has never changed.
