About the URAC
The United Republics of Aquria-Catopolis (URAC) is a personal union between the nations of Catopolis and the Grand Duchy of Aquria. On 26 December 2024, the two nations agreed to form a personal union to boost the legitimacy and economy and help maintain democracy. The two nations retain their separate identities. As the Aqurian leader said, "[It's] like Austria-Hungary but actually functional."
What's a Personal Union?
A personal union is a union of two states constituted by their becoming subject to the same personal ruler without loss of independent sovereignty. In the case of the Aquria-Catopolis personal union, Aquria and Catopolis retain their separate leaders, however, URAC-wide projects and most URAC-wide foreign affairs are handled jointly by the two. Having two leaders also helps to stop corruption; it's what ancient Rome did, with their two consuls.
Flag Specifications
The flag of the URAC is 16 units by 9 units. 0.5 units from the left side of the flag is a blue triangle 9 units by 12 1/3 units (HEX code #00266dff). One of the triangle's vertices is at the top of the flag and the other two are at the bottom. The 0.5-unit by 9-unit rectangle to the left of the blue triangle is also blue (HEX code #00266dff). To the right of the blue triangle is a white parallelogram (HEX code #ffffffff). The leftmost diagonal side of the white parallelogram matches the angle of the rightmost diagonal side of the blue triangle. The parallelogram is 2 1/3 units wide. 0.5 units from the right side is a red triangle 9 units by 12 1/3 units (HEX code #ad0000ff). Two of the triangle's vertices are at the top of the flag and the other is at the bottom. The 0.5-unit by 9-unit rectangle to the right of the red triangle is also red (HEX code #ad0000ff). In the centre of the flag, there is a 5-pointed yellow star (HEX code #f1c232ff). The yellow star is oriented so that one of its points points straight up and two of them point down diagonally. At its maximum width it is 6 units wide. 1 3/4 units from the left and 2 1/3 units from the bottom, there is a white star (HEX code #ffffffff). The white star is oriented so that one of its points points straight up and two of them point down diagonally. At its maximum width it is 2 units wide. 1 3/4 units from the right and 2 1/3 units from the top, there is a second white star (HEX code #ffffffff). The white star is oriented so that one of its points points straight up and two of them point down diagonally. At its maximum width it is 2 units wide.
Anthem
The anthem of the URAC is Weur ure de Arma. It was written by the Aqurian leader.
