About the URAC
The United Republics of Aquria-Catopolis (URAC) is a union between the nations (now national districts) of Catopolis and the United Districts of Aquria. On 26 December 2024, the two nations agreed to form a personal union to boost the legitimacy and economy and help maintain democracy. On 25 April 2025, Aquria and Catopolis agreed to a full union. The two nations retain their separate identities. As the Aqurian leader said, "[It's] like Austria-Hungary but actually functional."
How does the union work?
In the case of the Aquria-Catopolis union, Aquria and Catopolis retain their separate leaders (prime ministers), however, URAC-wide projects and most URAC-wide foreign affairs are handled jointly by the two. Having two leaders also helps to stop corruption. It's what ancient Rome did, with their two consuls.
There are also shared agencies, ministries, etc. in Aquria-Catopolis. For example, CATA and ASAT are now the ACAO
